Magical Journey Montessori School

WONDERFUL!!! That is what I wanted to hear (that your goals are still in progress!) We are a small Montessori School on a small island off of the coast of Texas called Galveston. Our class just finished reading and discussing in great detail the book, Taj Mahal, and the children worked on a project perforating white and black Taj Mahals, glued them opposite of each other across a “river” (aluminum foil for reflection purposes), and then decorated the “gardens” with their independent choice of art materials. They are between the ages of 3-6.

I will update the class on your progress and look forward to sharing with them any updates you share with me!

    Agra exhibition

    The Black Taj Project/ we organized a 3 day show (25, 26 and 27 Sept. 2005) at Agra,home of the Taj Mahal, on the closing ceremony of the 350 years celebrations of the Taj Mahal. This show was inaugurated by UP State Tourism Minister.

    It was our first display of black taj in Agra.

    Black taj Mahal (President Awarded) was displayed in special light effects morning, evening, dawn. The documentary film on black taj (link to film) was also played which gave enough information about the project and the story behind black taj. Above all an interesting photo exhibition on Taj Mahal was displayed at strategic places for the visitors to know more about that.

    Foreign as well as Indian tourists visiting the exhibition admired the show and took several pictures & videos.. General Manager of all hotels shot a video as well took the pictures alongside the artist. Taj mahal holds a special place in the hearts of people all over the world.

    Many people became part of the project. They all were eager/ interested in seeing the bigger black taj mahal to complete. Many said we are depriving them of the chance to see such a wonderful show by not presenting it at a prime location such as Agra Fort where other events were taking place.

    Several tourists foreign as well as domestic
    It took place at the shilpgram
    auditorium, 1.5 km from Taj Mahal.

      Show - dance drama

      This was our second visit to Agra this time with the dance troupe. It was a 30 minute performance, which left the masses totally entertained and satisfied. When they came out we heard them admiring the different aspects of the show.

      Everyone admired the beautiful creation the taj. Some were heared admiring Mumtaz & other dancers, probably smitten by their beauty and performance.

      Then again the taj photo exhibition, a short film on taj and several informative brochures were there to keep the crowd interested.

      Location: Shilpgram Auditorium
      (1.5 km from Taj Mahal. It is an ideal location for such performance.)

      Choreographer and main dancer: Arunima Rai
      The dance performance was nicely choreographed by Arunima
      (should we provide a photo and a brief profile. Where to put it) our lead dancer.

      Show Synopsis

      Shahajahan makes the white Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Later when he has completed it, Mumtaz comes in the dreams of Shahjahan and requests him to build a mausoleum for himself so that the world remembers their love and pain of separation, eternally. But when he starts the work on black Taj Mahal, he gets engaged in the war of succession with his son, and is imprisoned. He dies with the dream unfulfilled. His soul is troubled and wants to complete it. Then after 350 years, a person (arshi) takes up the responsibility of completing the late emperor’s dream.

        Black Taj exhibition, IIC (India international center), New Delhi

        Our first exhibition in New Delhi mainly at the request of Dr. Karan Singh (President ICCR) Held at the IIC, New Delhi, the display of taj helped us network with the government officials and senior bureaucrats. It also gave us good media coverage.

        Few people donated. (world bank employee 10,000) and told encouraging words to us. In future, when we plan something these people would surely come forward from some corner of the world and would be happy that something they wished for is coming true. (support us/ donate now)

        How do we provide the exhibition content? It is the same as the agra show. Except that there were no special light effects for taj? (or should we mention in short for every event separately, with anything unique getting a more detailed explaination)
